The great adventure begins today when the 4 of us will leave the comfy confines of home in Federal Way, Washington, and drive our rental Dodge Caravan north up I-5 to the corner of 1st Avenue South & Edgar Martinez Drive to Safeco Field for today’s 4:15 PM game between the Los
Angeles Dodgers and the Seattle Mariners. But before we go to Safeco Field we will make a slight diversion in our trip to Puyallup, Washington to pick up a surprise first game guest, Pat’s and my Mom and Shawn and Steven’s grandma Mary. Mom is a great fan but between her macular degeneration and rheumatoid arthritis it has been several years since she last went to Safeco Field. She is really looking forward to it. All of us wish this trip had begun on Friday night because then we could’ve witnessed 6 Mariners pitchers combine for a no hit game. It was the Mariners 3rd no hitter in their 35 year history and tied the record for most pitchers used to pitch a no hitter. We want to get to the stadium early, as it is giveaway day at Safeco Field. The first 10,000 fans get a flexible Ichiro figurine. It will be nice to get that and see how much free stuff we can rack up during this trip. To say the excitement and anticipation is palpable would be an understatement. We shall see how we feel about this after 30 days on the road. Pat & Steven arrived in Seattle from Austin Thursday ready to travel. Safeco Field is my home park and I rarely actually drive to the stadium, I choose to take public transportation so that may be the first challenge of this trip, finding a parking spot. The main source of information during this trip will be this blog where we will blog our travel adventures, have an in depth review of the games we see, and provide previews of activities to come. Shawn, as our social network guru, will be using the services of Twitter to provide occasional updates when he can. We will use this blog when we have access to wi-fi along the way. Please comment and send questions about the blog and we will try to get answers back to you as soon as possible. You can also send e-mails with comments and questions to ultimatebaseballfantasytrip@gmail.com. We will also try to respond to questions and comments on twitter as well. When today’s game ends we are off south on I-5 to San Francisco. Take care and enjoy.
The weather down here in the Bay Area is absolutely beautiful. Hopefully you guys will bring Tim Lincicum some of his Mojo back, as he will be on the hill tomorrow vs the Rangers. Timmy is a god awful 2-6 on the season and has a hefty plus 6.00 ERA ouch. I have him in two of my fantasy teams and I have decided this is the last game I'm gonna give him to see if he can work hi way back, if not I'm releasing him and gonna search for a new pitcher. Have safe travels coming down I-5, be careful crossing into California from Oregon lots of cops love to sit there and radar gun drivers.
