Day 2 – June 10 – San Francisco, California

Day 2 of this adventure finds us heading to the Bay Area after the all night trip down I-5 from Seattle after the Mariners – Dodgers game yesterday. When we left Seattle the 5 of us made a stop at the Metropolitan Grill to have a great steak dinner. By the time we got on the road it was a little before 10PM and I was driving. We stopped in Puyallup to drop Mom off at her home. We had a great time with her at the game and she really enjoyed it. She told us to drive very carefully and to have a lot of fun and we all told her we would on all counts. I drove us down to near Eugene, Oregon where we gassed up and changed drivers. Brother Pat got in the car and there was a heated argument where he wanted to drive by Autzen Stadium, home of the University of Oregon Ducks, to either flip them off or moon them, but I was able to talk him out of it as I didn’t want Phil Knight to get mad at us and possibly jeopardize losing Nike as a potential “Fantasy” adventure sponsor. As a loyal University of Washington fan, Pat thought it was not only his right, but also duty, to flip off the University of Oregon. After calming Pat down we continued our trek down I-5 and by the time we crossed into California from Oregon the morning light had broken and we’re hoping for a good weather day in San Francisco. Once into California the search began for more gas. We found it in Yreka. We changed drivers once again with Nephew Steven getting behind the wheel. We now have enough gas to get to San Francisco and had a quick fast food breakfast at McDonalds and took advantage of their wi-fi to get this out. The food should carry us over until we get to the AT&T Park for today’s game. While accessing the Internet I had a message from my friend Corey Kneeshaw who is the commissioner of a Fantasy Baseball league that Shawn & I are in and he lives in the east bay area and we put together plans to get together at AT&T before the game and watch the game together. It’s Giants Cap day today at the ballpark. Hope we get there in time. It’s only for the first 20,000 fans. The plan is to get a hotel after the game today and spend the night in San Francisco before heading out in the morning. We will have a detailed report after the game today with an update of the balance of the trip to San Francisco and about what we did at the game.
